SERVING A STRONGER COMMUNITY
Building on our Momentum Together

ABOUT MARK SWAN
Dedicated to Knightdale's Progress
Serving my community has always been important to me. After six years serving as a member of the Land Use Review Board (LURB), where I was honored to serve two consecutive terms as chairman, I went on to be elected to my first term on the Knightdale Town Council in 2013, 2017, and 2021.
Knightdale is a great place to live and raise a family. My family moved to the area when I was a child. I went to Lockhart Elementary, East Wake Middle, and graduated from East Wake High School. I grew up feeling safe and at ease here. In this community that took care of me, I learned to be a good citizen and to take care of my community. I went to UNC-Wilmington for college, but when it was time to raise a family, I moved back to Knightdale. I want to help make Knightdale the best it can be for all families, of all sizes and ages.
My vision for Knightdale is to be a place where people really want to live; where they know their neighbors, merchants, and leaders; where they can walk to the store or the park; where sidewalks and parks are alive with activity; where people have easy access to life’s necessities and a variety of entertainment. A place where they can start out, raise a family, and retire in comfort.
As a current council member, I’m closely aligned with the town’s strategic plan and its priorities to make Knightdale Safe, Connected & Inclusive, Sustainable, Active & Healthy, and demonstrate Organizational Excellence.
